Understanding how AI "sees" text and makes connections is abstract and difficult to grasp. Questions like:
The Challenge: Make the invisible visible - show how AI embeddings work through interactive visualization.

72 knowledge base entries from portfolio AI assistant. OpenAI text-embedding-3-small generates 1536-dimensional vectors. Dimensionality reduction to 2D/3D for visualization.
Implemented both PCA (linear, preserves global variance) and UMAP (non-linear, preserves local structure) to show different perspectives. Server-side caching avoids regenerating embeddings. React.memo() prevents expensive chart re-renders. Click-to-expand modals for full content exploration.
Semantic clustering validated manually (healthcare experiences cluster together, AI projects form distinct cluster). Variance explained calculated from PCA eigenvalues. Performance measured via React DevTools (< 16ms render time). User interaction patterns observed through analytics.
2D loses information vs 3D (but easier to interact with). Hover previews limited to 200 chars (vs full content). No search/filter functionality yet (planned). Color coding not yet implemented. Export functionality not available.

Embeddings Are Powerful: Building this tool deepened my understanding of how RAG systems work. Seeing semantic clustering makes it clear why vector search outperforms keyword search.
